Liposuction is perhaps one of the best-known plastic surgery treatments; it is used to remove stubborn fat cells that evade all the diet and exercise in the world. It is usually used for target areas like the stomach, thighs, arms and so on; however recently, with advancements in technology, liposuction can also treat facial fullness like double chin and sagging jowls; more commonly referred to as a Neck & Chin Liposuction. If you are interested in a Neck & Chin Liposuction in San Francisco, consider scheduling a consultation with Dual Board-Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Raj Dedhia at Raj Dedhia MD Facial Plastic Surgery. To learn more about this liposuction technique, please continue reading the information below.
Neck & Chin Liposuction, also known as submental liposuction, is a minimally invasive contouring procedure that uses liposuction to minimize the double-chin appearance and provide you with a smoother, firmer, and more defined V-shape to anchor your face. This treatment also targets sagging and loose necklines to lift them up and help with a more sleek facial profile.
Our patients who have received a San Francisco Neck & Chin Liposuction have enjoyed many benefits some of which have included:

Liposuction Consultation
If you are interested in a Neck & Chin liposuction in San Francisco, the first step is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Raj Dedhia. When you come in for your appointment, Dr. Dedhia will discuss your medical history, your desired aesthetic goals as well as expectations. You must be honest and upfront because Liposuction does carry a greater risk for patients with medical problems (i.e. diabetes, significant heart or lung disease, poor blood circulation) or for those who have recently experienced surgery near the targeted contour area. After the initial discussion, Dr. Dedhia will examine your neck and chin area and discuss target incision areas as well as potential scarring.
Once he deems you to be a good candidate for this surgery, Dr. Dedhia will create your surgical plan. If you are satisfied with this plan, you will then meet with our Patient Coordinator to schedule your surgery, price the plan as well as share any pre-operative instructions.
On the day of your Neck & Chin liposuction, Dr. Dedhia and his friendly staff will welcome you. They will go over the surgical plan once more to make sure everyone agrees. To help your procedure be as painless as possible, Dr. Dedhia will administer your local anesthesia or an anesthetist will be brought in to deliver your general anesthesia, depending on what was discussed during your consultation.
Dr. Dedhia will begin your procedure by treating the entire treatment area with a numbing medication that will anesthetize the area, minimize bleeding, and help suspend the fat for suctioning. He will then begin by making incisions under the chin area and under both ear lobes to allow for various angles to target the fat.
The Liposuction portion is then performed through the incisions with a very thin rod called a cannula that is connected to the suction machine and passed evenly throughout the treatment zones. The cannula will be gently used to scrape loose the stubborn fat and suction it out.
Once the liposuction is complete and the skin has been pulled to its optimum tightness, Dr. Dedhia will close each incision with one or two small sutures. He will place gauze pads over the incisions as some watery blood-tinged leakage is expected from those areas during the first few days. Finally, he will apply a compression garment to keep pressure on the swelling.
This procedure will take approximately one hour to complete but will vary depending on the complexity of the individual cases.
After your surgery is complete, Dr. Dedhia will monitor you in our recovery room until the sedation wears off. You may still feel the effects of the numbing medication and sedation, which is why we encourage our patients to find a family member or friend to provide them with a ride home.
After the first twenty-four hours post-surgery, you will be able to remove the compression dressing for the first time but just temporarily. You will be taught how to easily reapply the compression bandage with some foam for an even distribution of pressure. It is encouraged to wear this garment for the first week to keep swelling mitigated. You can remove it to shower and clean up as directed by Dr. Dedhia.
We encourage our patients to begin walking right away if they are comfortable so as to avoid blood clots. Any strenuous exercise is not allowed for at least a week to prevent any pressure on the facial area or increase the risk of bleeding or fluid buildup.
Chin Liposuction Cost
The cost of neck and chin liposuction in San Francisco ranges from $5,000 to $10,000. This price varies based on the complexity of the case, as well as factors such as the surgeon’s fees and anesthetist’s fees.
To determine the precise cost of your procedure, we recommend scheduling a consultation with Dr. Dedhia, who will develop a tailored treatment plan for you. Once this plan is established, our Patient Coordinator will provide a detailed price breakdown. The prices generally include anesthesia and operating room facility expenses; however, they may vary depending on individual case complexity and the type of anesthesia required, and are subject to change.
